We are currently accepting resumes for a full time Controls Engineer as well as a Controls Engineer internship.

Controls Engineer

Southlake Automation, Inc. is an industrial automation systems integrator serving the automotive, chemical, consumer product and material handling industries as well as many others. Our services include electrical control design, programming (PLCs, Operator Interface, SQL, VB.NET, Robots, etc.) and commissioning of systems. Projects range in size from one day service calls to yearlong design program and commissioning projects. We service our local territory of the Chicagoland area as well as across the country and around the globe. Our in house control panel assembly allows us to run preliminary testing on systems prior to shipment.

Salary commensurate with experience. Some travel required.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Design electrical control systems from written specification and verbal description.
  • Program PLCs and operator interfaces, primarily Allen-Bradley. Other brands include Siemens, Omron and Mitsubishi.
  • Electrical troubleshooting while commissioning systems.
  • Travel to customer sites for commissioning. Estimate travel is 20%.
  • Ability to design and program based upon written description of operation
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding the status of projects.
  • Experience with Visual Basic and SQL Server preferred but not required
Requirements:
  • 0 to 10 years experience
  • Experience with designing electrical schematics and control panels using AutoCad
  • Experience with programming PLC’s.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study.
  • Knowledge of NEC code.
  • Experience with Visual Basic and SQL Server preferred but not required.

Controls Engineer Internship

Excellent internship opportunity available in Merrillville Indiana for a BSEE, BSEET, or BSIE student that is interested in the field of Industrial Automation. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to solve problems on their own, and, with success, can expect responsibilities to grow. The candidate will work directly with engineers as well, and can expect to gain valuable hands-on experience developing industrial control systems and designing electrical control panels that are a critical part of these systems.
